Breakfast at El Portal across from Las Gaviotas. All breakfast menu items are under $6.
A small family-run (Dad served, mom cooked, and son assisted with prep) restaurant about 50 yards South of Las Gaviotas on the East side of the road. The menu is made up of mostly traditional Mexican home-cooked dishes, with a good-sized breakfast selection, and a kids menu with your typical US options (chicken nuggets, etc.). Start with fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee. Chips and some phenominal salsa fresca will also be served. Try the shrimp omelet. At $60 pesos, it is a steal. It takes up over half the plate, stuffed to the brim with cheese and cocktail-sized, perfectly cooked prawns (not those tiny bay shrimp you often see).
It does not look like much from the outside but the decor inside is very artistic with Mexican style. It has a very good vibe.
